Why I keep coming back to Money20/20
Hey FinTech Fanatics!
Next weekend, I’m swapping San Francisco for Las Vegas.
Again.
I think this will roughly be my tenth year at Money20/20. And despite the long days, too many meetings, and the fact that Las Vegas isn't exactly designed for an early night, I keep coming back.
There’s a reason.
For a few days, an absurdly large part of the FinTech industry ends up in the same place.
Founders. Banks. Investors. Partners. Customers. Competitors. Old friends. New friends.
And this year, it feels even more international. Judging by my inbox, much of London and Europe seems to be heading west as well.
At the same time, one of the main reasons I've been in San Francisco this period is to spend more time with my US network. Being here makes it much easier to see people I would otherwise only meet once or twice a year.
Vegas brings both worlds together. And that's incredibly valuable.
So… if you’re going to be in Vegas
My colleague Michel Breeuwer and I still have a handful of slots open during Money20/20.
And there's one particular conversation I'd love to have.
Money20/20 is one of the best places in the world for a FinTech company to get the industry's attention.
For four days.
But what about the other 361?
We've been working on something new for 2027 for a limited number of FinTech brands that want to stay visible throughout the year, not just when everyone happens to be standing in the same casino for four days.
I'm deliberately not going to explain all of it here.
That would ruin the fun.
But if getting more attention from the FinTech industry is somewhere on your 2027 agenda, come and let us show you what we're working on.

Now, back to Vegas.
Because the calendar is getting slightly out of control.
Sunday: starting with an old favorite
Before Money20/20 really gets going, I'll be starting Sunday evening at Fin & Juice, organised by my friend Harvey Hudes and the team at Caliber.
This has become one of my go-to Money20/20 side events every year.
Not because I desperately need another event on the calendar.
Quite the opposite.
It's one of those places where I reliably run into people I've known for years, meet a few new ones, and somehow end up having exactly the conversations that make the trip worthwhile.
A pretty good way to kick off Vegas.
Monday morning: apparently we're exercising
My colleague Michel, who leads our commercial partnerships at Connecting the Dots in FinTech, is joining me in Vegas this year.
He's also considerably more athletic than I am.
Conveniently, Maple is putting that to the test on Monday morning.
Together, we're hosting the Running on Syrup bootcamp: a 45-minute coached workout followed by drinks and networking.
Michel will definitely be earning his breakfast. I'm still investigating whether holding a coffee and offering moral support qualifies as participation...
Monday, October 19
7:20 check-in · 7:45 workout · drinks afterwards

If an early-morning workout isn’t your thing either, Maple and I have something else happening on Monday.
Later that day, we’re bringing together a small group of finance and technology leaders for an intimate dinner.
Just 18 seats. No panels. No stage. Hopefully no burpees.

And then there's Monday night… 👀
This one is a little more complicated.
My friend Steve McLaughlin, founder of Financial Technology Partners / FT Partners, showed me something for their Monday-night VIP event that I’m pretty sure I wasn't supposed to share yet.
So I'm behaving.
For now 😉
What I can say is that the FT Partners party has become one of those legendary Money20/20 invites.
They've had people like Post Malone, Eddie Vedder, Snoop Dogg, and Lenny Kravitz perform in previous years.
And apparently Steve has decided the bar still wasn't high enough.
I have seen the flyer. That's all you're getting from me today.
Come find me in Vegas and try to get it out of me 🤣
Four days in Vegas
This is really why I still love Money20/20 after all these years.
Yes, there are meetings.
Yes, there are stages, announcements, dinners, workouts, and probably far too many late nights.
But mostly, it's the concentration of people.
People from New York, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, and everywhere in between who suddenly end up within a few blocks of each other.
You can't recreate that very easily on Zoom.
So if you're there, say hello.
If you want a coffee, let's have one.
And if you want to hear what Michel and I are building for brands in 2027…

Which side event are you attending in Vegas?
Let me know, maybe I’ll see you there!
Cheers,
P.S. If you spot Michel doing burpees at 7:45 am on Monday while I'm holding a coffee, everything has gone according to plan.
