From Milestone To Momentum: Inside Klarna's Q2 2026
Klarna’s Q2 2026 delivered strong growth alongside improving profitability. Revenue rose 27%, transaction margin dollars jumped 42%, and operating profit turned positive, as Klarna expanded its products, partnerships and global network.
Klarna’s second quarter of 2026 showed a company that’s still growing fast, but now clearly starting to make that growth pay off. GMV was up 18% year on year, revenue rose 27%, and transaction margin dollars climbed 42%.
More importantly, that strength is now showing up in the bottom line, with both operating profit and net income turning positive as the business scales its network of consumers and merchants.
Now, let’s unpack the numbers that defined Klarna’s quarter.
Klarna's Q2 2026 Scoreboard
A quarter where growth and profitability moved in the same direction:
- Total Revenue: $1.04 billion, up 27% YoY
- GMV: $36.6 billion, up 18% YoY
- Adjusted Operating Profit: $91 million, up $62 million YoY
- Operating Income: $27 million, versus a $46 million loss in Q2 2025
- Transaction Margin Dollars: $446 million, up 42% YoY
- Active Users: 120 million, up 8% YoY
What Drove The Quarter
A big part of the story was the mix shift in Klarna’s products. Fair Financing, its installment offering at checkout, grew 82% to $4.7 billion in GMV. That helped revenue grow faster than overall volume, supported by $266 million in interest income and a $69 million gain from selling consumer receivables.

The U.S. stood out again. GMV there rose 27% to $7.9 billion, while revenue increased 37% and transaction margin dollars more than doubled, up 126%. At the same time, the broader ecosystem kept expanding. Klarna now works with over 1.2 million merchants, has 2 million paying subscribers on Klarna Memberships, and has scaled the Klarna Card to 6.5 million active users across 16 countries.
Costs also came in under control. Operating expenses grew 16%, well below transaction margin growth, which is what pushed adjusted operating income up to $91 million and brought operating profit back into positive territory at $27 million.
Building The Business
Klarna had a busy second quarter, mixing expansion with a push to become part of consumers' everyday financial lives. In France, it marked five years in the market by highlighting its growth and expanding local partnerships, while a deal with Bolt brought Klarna payments to rides and scooters across four European markets. And Bolt wasn't the only new partnership on Klarna's agenda, as the company continued teaming up with brands to broaden its reach.
The company also leaned into consumer protection, launching an in-app inbox designed to give users a trusted place for Klarna communications and help them avoid scams.
Just after the quarter closed, Klarna took another step toward becoming a full-fledged digital bank, submitting its application for a US banking licence.
From Results To Roadmap
Klarna heads into the second half with better margins, but a slightly more cautious view on volume. It trimmed its full-year GMV outlook to $149–151 billion, pointing to currency headwinds and softer demand in parts of Europe, especially Germany. At the same time, it lifted its profitability outlook, now expecting $1.62–1.65 billion in transaction margin dollars and $280–300 million in adjusted operating income.
Going forward, the focus is less about chasing volume at any cost and more about getting more out of the network already in place. PSP partnerships, Fair Financing, the Klarna Card, and new merchant integrations remain central. And with Q4 expected to be the strongest quarter for transaction margin dollars, momentum looks set to build into the end of the year.
