Paddle brings billing into AI workflows
Hey FinTech Fanatic!
One story that caught my attention today is Paddle’s new AI Toolkit, which lets developers set up, test and manage billing directly from tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Gemini CLI.
As Paddle’s Chief Innovation Officer Andrew Davies put it, “The companies being built today look very different from the SaaS businesses of even a few years ago.”
That’s exactly the shift Paddle is responding to. Smaller teams are building products faster with AI, but selling globally still means dealing with payments, taxes, and compliance across multiple markets. Paddle’s toolkit brings billing into developers’ existing AI workflows while continuing to handle those complexities across more than 300 markets.
Paddle also announced native usage-based billing, allowing AI businesses to charge customers based on consumption alongside subscriptions. The feature is expected to enter private preview in early 2027.
To me, this is another sign that FinTech infrastructure is adapting to how software is built today. AI isn’t just helping developers write code, it’s starting to change how they run the business around it, too.
Anyway, plenty more happened in FinTech today.
Let’s dive in, and I’ll be back in your inbox tomorrow!
Cheers,
