🇺🇸 Inter opens a U.S. branch in Miami to expand its regulated banking presence. 🇮🇹 Italy fines German online broker Trade Republic €2.5 mln for misleading ads. Regulators said the promotion may have led consumers to believe they were receiving traditional cashback rewards when the benefit was actually linked to participation in a savings plan under specific conditions.
🌍 ECB moved to rein in Revolut’s ‘self-guided missiles’ in Europe. A former criminal investigator for the Dutch national police force, van de Wall has a background that is heavily rooted in managing European market entry and expansion for global companies that process billions in annual transactions.
🇨🇦 Coinbase Canada appoints Eric Richmond as the new CEO. Richmond is expected to pick up Matheson’s torch and work closely with regulators and Coinbase’s partners to bring more of the financial system onto the blockchain while building out the exchange’s platform.
🌎 Adyen has promoted Shepherd Smith to President of North America. Smith will lead the company’s regional growth efforts while maintaining Adyen’s existing strategy of helping merchants scale through unified payments and financial technology solutions.
